The composition work was divided into three phases. First, I recorded percussion sounds and processed them in such a way that the percussive qualities of the sounds used always remained recognizable. Second, I created four different types of phrases: “natural” phrases (steel plates, bamboo and glass mimes, and scratching sounds created with ceramic pots), “expressive” phrases reminiscent of an instrumentalist, “condensed” and “dreamlike” phrases. In a third phase, I combined these elements. The guiding idea was to work with sound images that are forgotten from each other, recalled, ignored, and transformed in the course of the piece. The isolated piano sounds thereby articulate the formal structure of the work.
